Chemi Peres is a thoughtful speaker who nimbly speaks on topics as diverse as technology and innovation, finance and risk, and leadership and world affairs. Drawing on leadership lessons learned from his father as well as his own business experience, Peres demonstrates how innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship are mechanisms to make the world a better place. Expounding on the vision laid forth in his father’s sole autobiography, No Room for Small Dreams, he not only charts a better path forward for Israel but provides deep and universal wisdom for younger generations who seek to lead—be it in politics, business, or the broader service of making our planet a safer, more peaceful, and just place for everyone.
As Chairman of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, Peres has dedicated himself to continuing the legacy of his father, the Ninth President of Israel, Shimon Peres. He is leading the Peres Center’s flagship initiative, the Israeli Innovation Center, which will tell the remarkable story of Israel as the Innovation Nation. The Peres Center is a pioneer in developing and implementing innovative and cutting-edge peacebuilding programs in the fields of Innovation, Peace Education, Medicine, Business, and Environment, bringing together tens of thousands of Jews and Arabs, Israelis and Palestinians in meaningful cooperation over the last 21 years.
His father’s last project No Room for Small Dreams was finished just weeks before his death. The poignant autobiography serves as a guide to the history of the founding of Israel and the making of the modern, hi-tech start-up nation. Chemi dedicated himself to his father’s book tour, bringing his message around the world the book’s “…call to dream, to dare, to be optimistic, to transition ourselves into a new era.”
As one of Israel’s preeminent venture capitalists, Chemi Peres has been investing in exceptional teams and disruptive ideas since 1993. He serves as Managing General Partner and Co-Founder of Pitango Venture Capital, Israel’s leading Venture Capital Group. With investment in over 200 global hi-tech companies and over $2 billion under management, Peres is an integral part of the thriving Israeli innovation scene and a key player on the global entrepreneurial stage.
Peres serves on the board of directors of numerous companies such as Taboola and Via Transportation, and recently joined the board of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries – global leader in generic pharmaceuticals. He also serves as Chairman of Peres & Associates Global Advisory, which he established together with his late father. Peres & Associates was founded with the objective of harnessing the vast professional network and wealth of experience at its disposal to advance the goals of a diverse host of clients, both private and governmental. Furthermore, Peres is co-founder and board member of SOSA – Connecting Global Innovators.
A highly active in the field of impact investments in Israel, he is Chairman of the Al-Bawader Fund (Investing in the Israeli Arab Minority sector), Chair of the Advisory Board of Impact1st (early-stage technology fund addressing social and environmental challenges) and serves on the board of Social Finance Israel (Social Impact Bonds). He is Founder and Chairman of Amelia Investments (Focused on the Middle East Region) and chairs the investment committee of TakwinLabs (An Israeli Arab technology Incubator).
He founded and served as Chairman of Israel Venture Capital Association (aka IAI – Israel Advanced Technology Industries), and was Chairman of the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce.
Peres is married to Gila, they have three children and live in Ra’anana, Israel. Mr. Peres holds a BSc. degree in Industrial Engineering & Management and MBA degree from Tel Aviv University. He served as a pilot in the IAF (Israeli Air Force).
