Raven Saunders is an American track and field athlete who competes in the shot put and discus throw. She was the silver medalist in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, throwing a distance of 19.79 m (64 ft 11 in). She won three NCAA collegiate titles in the shot put for the University of Mississippi. She was a world junior medalist in 2014 and the Pan American junior champion in 2015. She holds a personal record of 19.96 m (65 ft 5+3⁄4 in) for the shot put.

In 2021 Saunders placed second at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials with a shot put throw of 19.96 m (65 ft 6 in). She was the silver medalist in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, throwing a distance of 19.79 m (64 ft 11 in).

During the medal ceremony, Saunders raised her arms and crossed them in the shape of an X after receiving her medal. On Instagram, she posted “If you are BLACK, LGBTQIA+, Or mentally Struggling. This one is for you.” Saunders is openly lesbian. She has been outspoken about struggles with depression and has worked as an advocate for racial justice and mental health
