Anthony Dorsett, Jr. is a former NFL player who was drafted in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers (now known as the Tennessee Titans). Anthony played four seasons with the Titans, where he made his first Super Bowl appearance as starting free safety in 1999. After starting in Super Bowl XXXIV with the Titans he joined the Oakland Raiders in 2000. During his four year tenure in Oakland, Dorsett and the Raiders won the AFC championship and appeared in Super Bowl XXXVII.
Throughout Anthony’s eight year career in the NFL he was committed to bringing understanding, compassion and financial assistance to youth all across America. This commitment was further reinforced through The Anthony Dorsett Jr. Foundation where Anthony is a recognized speaker, mentor, and trainer. He does motivational speaking for churches, football camps, and youth organizations. While with the Tennessee Titans he served as spokesperson for Toys for Tots. He has graciously maintained his community service to eradicate sickle cell anemia through fundraisers during his football career. While in Oakland he functioned as the Raiders spokesperson to the Boys and Girls Clubs. He also joined forces with Bless the Children Foundation, where he not only appeared in their Celebrity Bachelor Auction, but he was also a key financial contributor. Together, Anthony and the foundation gave away an estimated 2,000 holiday dinners and hundreds of toys to under privileged children.
Anthony has successfully transitioned from the NFL to a career in the entertainment industry where he has appeared in film, television and is pursuing additional opportunities including theater. Dorsett starred as the character Shane in the independent film “Losing Faith” which was released in 2008.
He has hosted BET’s MADD Sports; appeared in multiple commercials; and was commentator/radio personality with WTN Sports Radio, in Nashville, TN. Anthony has also hosted and participated in various award shows, such as the BET 25th Anniversary Show, NFL Network’s Total Access and most recently a presenter at the 2009 NAACP Image Awards.
Anthony was born and raised in Aliquippa, PA. He is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania with a degree in communications. His father is Heisman Trophy winner and Hall of Fame inductee Tony Dorsett. Anthony is single and currently resides in Frisco, TX.
