Barbara Caplan currently serves as a partner for Yankelovich Partners, Inc., a leading U.S. marketing research and consulting firm. A prominent expert on consumer trends, Ms. Caplan is one of America’s foremost authorities on the food, retail, fashion, housing and personal care industries.
Ms. Caplan’s primary responsibilities at the firm are focused on the Yankelovich MONITORAE. The Yankelovich MONITOR has served as the foremost source for tracking values, beliefs and lifestyles for 25 years, providing a predictable, scientific focus on the future. This analysis is utilized to help clients forecast trends and understand the implications for their marketing strategies. Barbara Caplan is also directly involved with client service at Yankelovich and plays an important role in the firm’s presentations and other public engagements as well.
Employed with Yankelovich for more than 18 years, Barbara Caplan has worked closely with numerous companies, including General Mills, American Express, Meredith Corporation, Avon, American Association for Retired Persons (AARP), Sara Lee, and others. A recognized author and lecturer on consumer trends, Ms. Caplan has spoken before diverse client, industry and government groups and has published articles and essays in Marketing News and the Arthur Anderson Retail Letter.
Barbara Caplan earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Smith College and a master’s degree in psychology from Columbia University and Sarah Lawrence College. Prior to joining Yankelovich, she taught child psychology at Pace University. Currently, Ms.Caplan resides in New York City with her husband.
