Bryan Baker, a guitarist, singer, and songwriter who has, since the age of 13, amazed, awed, inspired and overwhelmed audiences, editors, reviewers and fans worldwide. Bryan’s mastery of the instrument, his evolved, innovative and supremely unique style of playing, has this artists reach and impact within the music industry increasing with every performance and musical project.
From the soulful, bluesy vibe of his work, his hard, intense, guitar-based rock style, his prowess of improvisational jazz to Bryan’s fully computer driven electronic compositions, there simply isn’t a musician, let alone a musician who has been composing, arranging and performing with this range and expanse of musical experience as Bryan Baker.
Career Highlights:
- Awarded at age 13 a full ride scholarship to attend Pasadena, CA private music school, the LA Music Academy, and study his craft with professional, noted artists in the music industry.
- Youngest artist to play at the historic Chicago jazz and blues club Kingston Mines with blues man Charlie Love. Bryan was 13.
- Selected as the first young artist to be granted a full ride scholarship at age 16 to The Berklee College of Music; Bryan went on while at Berklee to represent the institution at The Monterey Jazz Festival, toured Europe as an ambassador for the school, recorded editorially recognized originals on the acclaimed JAZZIZ Compilation CD, and was the lead arranger and composer for Esperanza Spaulding (Grammy winning New Artist 2011) while they performed and studied together at Berklee College.
- Awarded the Billboard Magazine Performance Endowment Scholarship in 2006 while at Berklee Collage and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
- Toured globally and performed with music greats; Till Bronner, Mike Mainieri, Mike Stern, Anthony Jackson, Steve Smith, Bill Evans, the group Steps Ahead and The Yellowjackets, artists Donny McCaslin, Chris Terry, Etinne Mbappe, Rodney Holmes, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Roswell Rudd, David Fuzinsky, David Tronzo, and Meshell N’degeocello.
- Performed Spring 2011 with acclaimed, jazz sensation, European trumpet player Till Bronner in Germany to sold out theaters and standing ovations.
- Featured in Guitar Player Magazine Editors Top Picks quoted as “exciting and virtuosic playing showcased…” for David Cheskys composition – Concerto for Guitar & Orchestra released 2010
- Recently recorded tracks on soon to be released album featuring Alan Holdsworth with the legendary fusion group The Yellow Jackets.
- Was the featured artist at The Institute of Contemporary Music in London to a sold out audience.
- Bryans LA based rock band Black Baptista is performing throughout the US and Europe with their debut release titled Thread the Needle.”
- Recently profiles as “The New Black” in Boston Magazine, August 2011.
- In addition to Bryan’s impressive discography, he is the author of “Principles of Music” an intuitive instructional and philosophical instrumental tutorial selling out globally.
