Carrie Underwood is an American country singer. Hailing from a small town, this singer took her first step towards stardom after winning a reality contest. Most of her songs are about the various facets of love, while some are spiritual in nature. When she made her debut as a country singer, there were many female country singers who had already made their mark, but she stood up to the challenge. Over the years, she has been the recipient of many prestigious awards, such as ‘Grammy Awards,’ ‘Billboard Music Awards,’ ‘Academy of Country Music Awards,’ ‘American Music Awards,’ ‘Country Music Association Awards,’ and ‘Incorporation Awards.’ She even has a ‘Golden Globe Award’ nomination under her belt. Her popularity is not confined to America as she has a huge fan following in Canada, U.K., and Europe. Despite having received such accolades, her songs have been criticized for sounding familiar. Nevertheless, she has put her celebrity status to good use and often engages in philanthropic activities. She is an avid animal rights activist, advocate of gay marriage, and raises fund to support cancer research.
