Dr. Alex Klein (1969) teaches different economical sciences at a vast array of Dutch and international universities and business schools, from marketing to finance, from sales to HRM, from process management to management accounting, from The Netherlands to Barcelona (Spain) to New York (USA).
The most important virtue of Alex Klein is that he combines broad academic knowledge with a thorough practical experience: besides a MBA from the Nyenrode University (NL), he also holds a MBA (corporate finance) from the Rochester University (USA). Besides a master degree in strategic marketing, he further also holds a bachelor in sales management as well as one in corporate communication. Possibly he is the only one in Europe holding a PhD on a dissertation including over ten (!) different scientific areas. He has worked as commercial director for a Dutch glass factory as well as finance director for an internationally operating security company.
As researcher, Alex Klein tries to connect different corporate parts, both by academic articles as by practical advice for entrepreneurs during his masterclasses and lectures. Based on the results of his NOVOR research, Alex writes articles for members of management and boards, but also for students, so they all can use his insights. Next to that, he has been columnist for the largest Dutch newspaper (DFT, De Financiële Telegraaf) for over ten years now.
Based on his insights, Alex Klein creates management theories and business models, like the recently introduced Business Analysis Method. This is possibly the only model that includes and connects all other corporate business theories. His students tell him that this BAM-model encompasses their entire bachelor or master studies in one oversight. The slogan to this model therefore is: Insight in one oversight!
He is author of many books, from a schoolbook in which all financial calculations are explained in the form of flow charts to multiple management books. His most recent work is VroomVroom and Bee, a business fairy tale about a four-year old boy and a bee, together discussing the most important parts of a car (metaphor of a company and its departments). Currently he is working on a book explaining the BAM-model and the results of the NOVOR research.
He is often asked to perform on national radio and TV to explain economic or financial news items. On a weekly basis, he gives presentations for managers and CEOs to provide them with an inspiring mirror. In the past years, many thousands of managers have learned that Alex is an inexhaustible source of knowledge and inspiration. Sharing his knowledge is like a second nature to him: he lets his audience use his insights, so they can become better at what they do and can achieve better results, doing what they do
