Dr. Cornel West, philosopher, social activist and professor, has long held a place in the African American culture for his thought-provoking theories on politics, race relations and religion. West is a professor of Philosophy and Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary and professor emeritus at Princeton University. Dr. Cornel West, philosopher, social activist and professor, has long held a place in the African American culture for his thought-provoking theories on politics, race relations and religion.
West is a professor of Philosophy and Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary and professor emeritus at Princeton University. Born in Oklahoma and raised in Sacramento, California, West’s professorship includes stints at Yale, Harvard and the University of Paris.
West received his undergraduate from Harvard in three years and graduated with honors. He went on to receive his master’s and doctoral degrees from Princeton.
He has written over 20 books and is widely known for his best-seller, Race Matters. West has made several appearances on television, including frequent spots on The Bill Maher Show, Colbert Report, CNN, C-Span and Democracy Now.
He made his film debut in the Matrix – and was the commentator (with Ken Wilbur) on the official trilogy released in 2004.
