Ed Lu is a physicist, engineer, entrepreneur, and former NASA Astronaut. He flew two Space Shuttle flights and performed a spacewalk to help build the International Space Station. After the crash of the Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003, he was called upon to fly as part of 2-person skeleton crew to the International Space Station, requiring him to fly as the first American to co-pilot a Russian Soyuz spacecraft. He has logged 206 days in space. After his NASA career, he worked at Google helping build Google Maps.

Lu is the co-founder of the B612 Foundation, which is working to protect the Earth from asteroid impacts. He is also the co-founder of LeoLabs, which builds and operates a worldwide array of radars to track space debris.
