Equity is not a Strategy! It is a Mind-set! Dissatisfied by the un-changing narrowing of the racial achievement gap has been the driving force for Edwin Lou Javius. Advocating for students and school equity are two of the many talents of Edwin Lou Javius, who has established a reputation of inspiring educators to tackle the difficult issues of Educational Equity. From working in the system, to working on the system, he has supported districts and school sites to design, implement, and sustain promising practices to close the achievement gap. The work of Mr. Javius has prompted educators to change the dialogue from achievement gap to closing the “Opportunity Gap.”
As the Founder/President/CEO of EDEquity Inc., an educational consultant firm, he has led his company to be one of the most sought-after educational consultant firms in the country. Mr. Javius has written several articles on the topics of closing the achievement gap and culturally conscious leadership. He has authored Courageous Equity Leadership Toolkit which supports educators nationally and internationally. EDEquity is one of the few educational specialist firms that have a comprehensive Educational Equity support model.
Mr. Javius has garnered several awards such as California’s first statewide School Administrator Valuing Diversity Award in 2001 and NAACP’s Silicon Valley’s Educator of the Year Award in 2010.
A graduate of University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Javius holds a masters in Urban Leadership from Fresno Pacific University and a Doctoral Student in Transformation School Leadership..
