Full Bio

Geraldine Laybourne founded Oxygen Media along with Oprah Winfrey, Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner, and Caryn Mandabach and served as chairman and CEO since its inception. Laybourne founded Oxygen Media with the idea of providing women with entertainment that respects womens intelligence yet is fun and doesnt take itself too seriously.

Before Oxygen, Laybourne was vice-president of Disney/ABC Television. She came to that position following her hugely successful presidency of Nickelodeon. At Nickelodeon, Laybourne was largely responsible for the overwhelming success it achieved in the ’80s and ’90s, a time when Nickelodeon garnered a larger audience of children’s television than ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX, combined.

Laybourne was named one of Time magazine’s “25 Most Influential People in America,” for her contributions to television. She has received numerous awards including the Annenburg Public Policy Foundation award for Distinguished Lifetime Contribution to Children and Television and the New York Women Communications Matrix Award.
