Mario Van Peebles is an film director and actor. He brings a unique perspective to his work as an actor, director and producer having been born in Mexico to legendary filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles and German actress Maria Marx before growing up in Paris, Morroco, Denmark and San Francisco. He made his directorial debut with the film NEW JACK CITY (1991), POSSE (1993), PANTHER (1995) and many more. Mario Van Peebles is an film director and actor. He brings a unique perspective to his work as an actor, director and producer having been born in Mexico to legendary filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles and German actress Maria Marx before growing up in Paris, Morroco, Denmark and San Francisco.
He made his directorial debut with the film NEW JACK CITY (1991), POSSE (1993), PANTHER (1995) and many more.
Mario has worked with some of Hollywood’s leading celebrities including Will Smith and Jamie Foxx whom he starred with in the movie ALI (2001).
His most recent film to hit movie theaters was the USS INDIANAPOLIS: Men of Courage (2016). He was the film director of Episode 2 for the newest ROOTS series and regularly directs TV series “Empire”, “NCIS”, and “The Last Ship”.
His new sci-fi series SUPERSTITION, a supernatural drama is coming out in 2017.
