Patrick Jarreau is a well-known journalist. He was the former editor in Chief of Le Monde and is a guest at several TV programmes at France 24 and BFM-TV. In the last 15 years he published 4 books, mainly about politics and the society.
Patrick Jarreau started his career as a free-lance journalist (1974) and later on he joined the Agence France-Presse wire agency in 1975 till 1977 to switch to Le Monde. At Le Monde he was a political correspondent and covered the Parliament (1977-1979), the Communist Party (1979-1984), the Prime Minister (1984-1988), the Socialist Party (1988-1992), the President of the Republic (1993-1995).
In 1993, Patrick Jarreau became Chief of the Political staff at Le Monde and from 1995 to 2001, Head of the National Section. After his experiences in France he moved to the United States from 2001 to 2005 to become Bureau Chief for the United States in Washington.
After his work in the United States he became the Editor in Chief of Le Monde. Eventually he left in 2008 and became a free-lance journalist, a blogger at Rue89.com and guest of several TV programs (France 24 in French and English, BFM-TV).
During his career he authored ‘François Mitterrand, 14 ans de pouvoir’ (1995), ‘La France de Chirac’ (1995), ‘Chirac, la malédiction’ (1997) and ‘Français, faites comme tout le monde!’ (2008).
