In his early years, Gordon came to prominence as Alice Cooper’s manager, stoking the singer’s fame with a series of stunts that garnered free PR and elevated Cooper to icon status. As time went on, Gordon became responsible for managing the careers of other widely-known entertainers such as Groucho Marx, Raquel Welch, Luther Vandross, and Kenny Loggins, among countless others.  He’s also credited with creating the celebrity chef, a move which married the worlds of food and entertainment in an unprecedented fashion, turning the culinary arts into the multi-billion dollar industry it is today.  His culinary clients include legends like Wolfgang Puck, Emeril Lagasse, Nobu, Daniel Boulud, and many more.

In addition to the impact he’s had on the music, film, and food industries, he’s also highly regarded for his philanthropic endeavors.  Shep was named one of the 100 most influential people in Rolling Stone magazine.  He was the subject of Mike Myers’ 2013 documentary Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon.  In Spetember 2016, Anthony Bourdain’s ECCO released his book They Call Me Supermensch: A Backstage Pass to the Amazing World of Film, Food, and Rock ’N’ Roll.
